| Electronic Medical Records The Aesculapius Research Group seeks a paradigm shift from paper medical records to a state of the art Electronic Medical Record (EMR) customizable to the needs of each separate specialty and sub specialty. An EMR should accelerate the process of documenting a history, physical examination, and diagnoses in an intuitively, rapidly, and efficiently. An EMR should automate diagnostic tests, medication, and the submission of diagnostic and procedure codes. It should include error checking rules help physicians and nurses avoid medication errors from allergies or cross reactivity. Federal Evaluation and Management (E & M) electronic intelligence guidelines should be built into the charge code system. The EMR should be compliant with HIPAA’s privacy and portability policies.
